About Us

Our department is dedicated to training the next generation of engineers, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to solve real-world challenges in power systems, telecommunications, automation, and emerging technologies.

Our story

The Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, University of Jos was established in 2014, amongst the four pioneer Departments in the Faculty of Engineering, under the headship of Dr. Danjuma Dajab. The Department admitted its first set of students in 2014/2015 session. The Department has admitted three sets of students currently. The intake has continued to rise steadily since the first admission in the 2014/2015 session.

The Facilities in The Departments of Building and Physics, University of Jos in addition to organizations such as the National Metallurgical Development Centre and the Department of Electrical Engineering, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi with which the Department has MoUs are sufficient for the essential laboratories for the current Level, while significant progress has been made for our permanent Laboratories.

Workshop practices are carried out at the Equipment Maintenance Centre (EMC) of the University of Jos where students participate in all relevant workshops such as the Mechanical and Carpentry workshops. The lecturers and Technologies are very confident, experienced qualified and hard-working personnel. The laboratory staffs are absolute authorities in equipment handling and maintenance as well as practical classes. The Department has also explored its linkage with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi for external moderations of examination materials.
